ICAO Aviation English

Reach ICAO level 4 or better on your first English language proficiency assessment. 47 steps, about 21 hours of work, on your phone, tablet or laptop.

• Know your test. How the French DGAC test runs in detail, and how FOCA, ELPAC and TEA differ. Who needs it, levels 4, 5 and 6, and what the assessor listens for.
• The six ICAO criteria. Pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and interactions, with the lowest one setting your level, and five test questions answered at level 3, 4 and 5.
• Speak at the mic. 29 conversations: 10 radio exchanges, 4 DGAC simulated flights, 10 unusual situations with the examiner's questions, a FOCA picture flight and 3 TEA report tasks.
• Train your ear. 103 listening exercises, including 3 DGAC-format tapes with gap messages and ATIS to write down.
• Pictures and interview. 8 pictures to describe and compare, each described in words, and 14 interview questions said by the examiner.
• Know when you are ready. A 4-part mock test with a self-score on the six criteria.
