Passing the written is the easy part

Almost everyone passes the ATP written: 99.7% did in 2023, according to the FAA. A week of question drills gets you the score. What a question bank doesn't give you is the why, and that's what you get asked about next.

The written
Know why the answer is right, not just which letter it is. The figures and the performance charts stop being guesswork.
The checkride oral
The examiner asks how the system works and why the rule exists. Your answer can't be "B".
The airline interview
Systems, weather, high-altitude aerodynamics, Part 117, Part 121. The same knowledge, asked out loud.
Indoc and your type
Airline ground school goes deeper on exactly this theory. Start it with the basics already clear.

Seven volumes, the seven tasks of the ACS

The FAA splits the ATP knowledge into seven tasks (ACS FAA-S-ACS-11A, Area I). One volume for each, with the ACS code on every page.

Clear, well-structured, and straight to the essentials. Saves me a lot of time compared to studying only from the main books.
Gonçalo · Portugal
Studying for my ATPL conversion and these notes are gold. Wish I had them during my first round.
Ethan · Canada
Way better than any other summary I tried. Easy to follow even with English as a second language.

Questions

Is this the FAA question bank?

No. It's the theory, organized by the seven ACS tasks. Use it next to your question bank: the bank drills the format, the notes explain the answers.

The written is just memorization. Why notes?

You can pass it that way. But the checkride oral, the airline interview and indoc ask you to explain the same material, and that's what these notes are for.

Is it up to date with the ACS?

Yes. It follows the ATP ACS (FAA-S-ACS-11A) and each page carries its task code. Corrections and updates land in your library for free.

Do I need the CTP first?

Yes. Under 14 CFR 61.156 you need your ATP CTP graduation certificate before you can take the ATM knowledge test. The notes are a good read before and during the CTP.

What do I pay, and in what currency?

€89,00, once, charged in your local currency at checkout. No subscription.

Is anything shipped?

No. About a minute after you pay, you get an email with your personal access. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder or email us at piloteautrement@gmail.com. We answer within 24 hours.

Is this the European ATPL?

No. The European (EASA) edition is a separate product with different rules, exams and units. This one is written for the FAA only.
